Howard Marks
Founder - Oaktree Capital
Howard Marks is the Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of Oaktree Capital Management, the largest distressed securities investor in the world with $158 billion in assets under management. Mr. Marks’ is the author of two books “The Most Important Thing” and “Mastering the Market Cycle,” as well as 32 years’ worth of world-famous investment memos. Mr. Marks began his career at Citicorp, where he managed a portfolio of convertible and high yield securities. He then led groups at The TCW Group that were responsible for distressed debt, high yield bonds, and convertible securities investments. In 1995, Mr. Marks left TCW to co-found Oaktree Capital Management with Bruce Karsh. Mr. Marks holds a BSEC degree cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in finance and an M.B.A. in accounting and marketing from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He is a CFA® charterholder.
