Frequently Asked Questions
What do you look for in an applicant?
We welcome all students attending the University of Michigan to apply.
For those applying to the investing side, we only require an interest in finance. For those applying to the quantitative side, we require an introductory level of coding and experience with OOP languages such as Java, C++, or Python. We love to see personal projects as an application and extension of your learning.
In either case, our strongest candidates demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and engage, are highly involved in extracurriculars and leadership roles, and excel academically. Ultimately, we look for passionate people who love solving problems.
What does the interview process look like?
Applicants go through two or three rounds of interviews depending on the side they apply too.
For the investing side, the first round involves a behavioral interview. For the quantitative side, it involves a behavioral interview with a short technical interview consisting of one math or coding question at your choice.
The second round involves a technical interview. For the investing side, there is a case study component. For the post-behavioral interviews on the quantitative side, there is a coding and math component.
