What do you look for in an applicant?

We welcome all undergraduate students at the University of Michigan to apply. For the investing side, we seek applicants with a demonstrated interest and passion for finance. On the quantitative side, we value candidates with strong mathematical aptitude and/or an interest in engineering.

Our strongest applicants are generally highly motivated individuals who demonstrate a willingness to learn, engage deeply with new concepts, and take on challenges. Successful candidates often excel academically, hold leadership roles, and are actively involved in extracurricular activities. Above all, we value a genuine passion for finance and problem-solving.

What does the interview process look like?

Applicants will go through two rounds of interviews:

  • For the investing side, the first round is a behavioral interview. The second round is a superday, which includes both a behavioral interview and a technical business case assessment.

  • For the quantitative side, the first round consists of a behavioral interview followed by a short technical component, where applicants can choose between a math or coding question. The final round includes a medley of math and/or coding questions.
